Alicante to Benidorm

If you’re thinking of Benidorm for a well earned holiday, you have a fair number of choices. You can come on a package holiday, a short weekend break, or you can travel here independently, arranging your own flights and hotel. Arrival by air is easy. The main airport is at Alicante, where most visitors arrive, but there is another less well known airport, namely San Javier Airport, in Murcia. Many cheap flights are available to this destination, as Ryan Air now operates there. San Javier Airport is to the south of Alicante Airport. Another option is to fly into Valencia Airport, north of Benidorm.

Whatever you decide to do, there will be several other matters to sort out, not least of these being your airport transfers. Benidorm is close (but not too close!) to Alicante Airport; 45 minutes drive, in fact. As there are many options you have plenty of choice.

How to get from Alicante to Benidorm

  • If you’ve booked a package holiday you usually won’t need to worry about your transfers, as they are often included in the cost of your holiday. Even if they aren’t, your travel agent or internet booking site will give you the option of booking in advance.
  • Taxis are a very convenient way to transfer to your accommodation, but of course they are the most expensive option. It is always a good idea to settle the fare with the driver before you set off as you may be charged for baggage and/or airport supplements.. Taxis operate round the clock from Alicante Airport, so there’s no difficulty in hiring one. The best argument for taking a taxi is the convenience; you’re straight to the door of your hotel.
  • You can also opt for private shuttle bus, which you book in advance (see above). This is much cheaper, but the downside is that you may be sharing with people going to other hotels, so it may take longer.
  • The cheapest option of all is the airport bus, which is quite heavily used. To do it this way you may need to be patient, as the number of runs it makes depends on the season. In the low season it may be a low as four runs, and in the peak season thirteen runs. Also, it may not coincide with the time of your flight’s arrival, so there may be some waiting around time. It will probably not take you to the door of your hotel either, so you may need to take a taxi from the bus terminal, which is a little inconvenient if you have a lot of luggage. If you decide on this option, the bus stop is right outside the terminal and goes to Avenida Europa 8 in Benidorm.
  • You may decide to hire a car, especially if you want to tour around the Costa Blanca during your holiday. This will get you to your hotel and back again to the airport. Hiring a car is very inexpensive, so check out the car hire websites before you go.
