Benidorm Transport

Getting around in the Benidorm area

busWhen holidaying in Benidorm, you will no doubt want to get around and see something of this beautiful part of Spain. You have a very good choice of transport; public bus, car hire, rail, taxi and even boat.

Travelling by train

It’s a very relaxing way to see the lovely coastline; meandering along on a narrow gauge rail track, with nothing to do but look at fantastic scenery. Train journeys are available between Benidorm, Alicante, Denia and other places. It only takes an hour to get from Benidorm to Alicante. You can catch trains from Benidorm VIA station.

Car Hire

Renting a car means that you are free to go where you want, and when you want. Don’t forget though, that driving in a different country means a new level of alertness. For one thing, you will be driving on the right side of the road. Observe the speed limit, which is 50km (31 miles) per hour in Benidorm itself, and the speed limit nationally is 90 km (56 miles) per hour. Seat belts must be worn, and passengers under 12 years old must use a child’s seat.

You have many choices of care hire firm in Benidorm, and they include Hertz and Europcar, among others.

Travelling by bus

This is an economical way to travel around, and buses travel to many nearby towns, cities, and places of interest. It is a very well organised transport system, buses being frequent and reliable. Timetables can be found at bus stops. You can buy a ticket known as a Bono Bus 20, which will buy you 20 journeys, instead of buying all your tickets separately. If you like, you can take a sightseeing tour by bus, too.

Coaches connect the main towns on the Costa Blanca, and you will find that they are more frequent than trains. The journeys are shorter and the coaches stop in the town centres.

There is also a tram operating between Benidorm and Alicante, if you want to try something different!

A popular excursion is a trip on the Lemon Express, which takes you to Gata de Gorgos, along the Costa Blanca coast. A trip to a guitar factory, and the opportunity to see how willow baskets are made, is included. A pleasant end to your trip is guaranteed, with wine being served on the way back. If you fancy this you should bear in mind that this excursion is very popular and should be booked in advance.

How about a boat trip?

A lovely way to spend the day! Where you can visit Benidorm Island, Calpe, Altea and other destinations along the coast from one of the many boat excursions on offer.
Benidorm is a lovely place with lots to see and do, so don’t stay by the pool every day – get out and about!
