Benidorm Fiestas

A fiesta is an important part of the Spanish community and plays an important role in their day-to-day activities. A fiesta is an activity that bonds the family and the town together. All the people take part in this fiesta celebration. This fiesta also influences the life style of the Spanish people. In case of Benidorm fiesta is a part and parcel and that continues through the year. Around thirty various fiestas are conducted in a year in Benidorm. All these fiestas are marked with music, fireworks, theatres and most them are celebrated in the streets and tourists are welcomed to take part in these Benidorm fiestas.

The major and important Benidorm fiestas are. Fallas and the Hogueras de San Juan during which the fire works plays the important part, Parade and exercises are conducted to mark the fiestas like Moors and Christians feast, Rocio fiesta is conducted to honor the Virgen del Sufragio and San Jaime Apostol. For every season and for each month there is fiesta in Benidorm. This is the culture of the Spanish people to celebrate customs, historical events, well known personalities and customary rituals.

The main idea behind fiesta is to bring all the Spanish people together and to celebrate their traditions and at the same time to preserve the heritage. Here is a month wise calendar of the fiestas that takes place in the Benidorm.

January
San Antonio and the Hermita de Sanz fiesta is celebrated. Also the procession ceremony of three kings is carried out on 5th January.

February
Is famous for fancy dress competition and the carnivals.

March
Marks the celebration on Poniente Beach. In the same month the Falas fiesta is also celebrated. It is a treat to watch these festivals and fiestas.

April
Dignified and religious customs are held.

May
Fiesta de la Creu.

June
Celebrates Bonfires of St John and the traditional Andalucian fiesta.

July
Is famous for bonanza if fiestas in this month Fiestas of the Carmen and the Benidorm patron saint St James fiesta are celebrated.

August
August s the only month in which fiestas are not celebrated but the Benidorm council arranges various cultural and artistic events. In Aiguera Park auditorium numerous live shows are organized during this month.

September
Celebrates the fiesta and the culture of Harvest festival through out the Spain. At the end of month one can witness the dazzling parade by the Moors and Christians.

October
Celebrates the fiesta of Imalsa and promotes the Valencian products.

November
one can witness various fiestas and the culture of Spain and that includes Las Fiestas Patronales, El Virgen del Suffrage and Jaime Apostle festivals. Along with these fiestas cultural and sports events are conducted during this month.

December

Celebrates Christmas and the New Year.

During all these fiestas and culture activities the streets of Benidorm are decorated with garlands, flowers and with decorative lights. Various activities such as brass bands, rock music, midnight concerts, and classical concerts are conducted in Benidorm. Anyone visiting Benidorm should at least witness one of the fiestas and then only they would be able to understand the rich culture of the Spanish community.
